What is Peer Learning?
Definition
Peer learning is an educational approach in which learners teach and learn from one another as equals, sharing expertise and solving problems collaboratively. Unlike social learning which emphasizes community, peer learning focuses on the direct exchange between two or more individuals with similar standing. It reverses the traditional teacher-student hierarchy.

Teaching Each Other as Equals
Peer learning deepens understanding because teaching requires articulation. When a learner explains a concept to a peer, they uncover gaps in their own knowledge. Pair programming, study groups, and peer review sessions are peer learning structures. Platforms supporting peer learning often include peer-to-peer scheduling, recording of explanations, and ways to recognize peer teachers.
