What is Employee Engagement?
Definition
Employee engagement is the emotional commitment and effort employees invest in their work and organization. Engaged employees are motivated, contribute discretionary effort, and align personal goals with organizational goals. Engagement is distinct from satisfaction (you can be satisfied but not engaged). Engaged employees drive productivity, innovation, retention, and customer satisfaction.

Commitment Beyond Compensation
Engagement is the force that turns employees into advocates and performers. An engaged employee shows up early, stays late on important projects, and takes pride in work. Disengaged employees do minimum required and leave when better offers arise. Engagement is built through meaningful work, clear growth paths, regular recognition, and management that listens and develops. Learning platforms support engagement by providing visible development pathways.
