    LRS vs SCORM

    SCORM is primarily a one-way communication standard—course reports completion and score to an LMS, mostly binary pass-fail. xAPI and LRS capture rich, structured activity data—every interaction, every pause, every question attempt—enabling sophisticated learning analytics. Rich LRS implementations also capture context (course, module, location), result (success, score, response), and custom extensions. For example: 'John (actor) completed (verb) Module 3 (object) with 85 percent (result) on 2026-01-15 at 2:30 PM from desktop (context).'
